The video should feature someone from the organisation speaking about what the grant could do to help the charity and the audience is Flight Centre Travel Group employees who are voting for the winning charities.
There will be one week to submit these videos once you are ‘successful’ as a finalist from the 13th November – 27th November 2023.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. If I am successful, how much money will I receive as part of the grants program?
A. The grant you are applying for is $15,000. There is potential for five separate charities to receive a $15,000 grant.
Q. Should my charity apply for this grant?
A. Yes, if your charity has Deductible Gift Recipient 1 (DGR1) status from the Australian Taxation Office and you fit the giving focus, eligibility requirements and selection criteria, above.
Q. What if my organisation doesn’t have a DGR Item 1 status?
A. Organisations without DGR Item 1 status are not eligible to apply for a grant. Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status is granted by the ATO. It allows entities or funds to receive tax deductible gifts and ensures that gifts and contributions are used appropriately to benefit the community.
Q. How does this grant process work?
A. Charities will have the opportunity to apply for The Giving Grants (5 x $15,000 grants) during the timeline above. Our FC Foundation team will shortlist charities through internal panels and the successful charities will be contacted if they have made it onto the finalists list.
Becoming a finalist qualifies charities for the voting round. Unsuccessful charities will also be notified if they did not make it through as a finalist. Successful charities, or finalists, will be given 1 week to produce a short video (*see details above) about what their charity and project will do with the grant money. Once the videos are in, our 5,500-person workforce will vote on which charities they wish to fund and be involved with for 2024. The top five charities that receive the greatest number of votes will be granted a $15,000 grant, each.
Q. Who decides what grant applications make it to the finalist's stage in the FC Foundation Team?
A. We will be using a combination of the Flight Centre Foundation Board Members, Flight Centre Foundation Working Group Members and a select group of the Flight Centre Travel Group Senior Leadership Team.
Q. When will I know if I was successful in receiving a grant if I am a finalist and the employees vote for me?
A. End of December 2023
Q. When will I receive the money?
A. The successful grant recipients will receive the funds late December of 2023
Q. Can I apply on behalf of an organisation I am not a part of?
A. No
